Special Interest Groups
In addition to the ongoing groups listed below, St. Paul’s offers a number of short-term classes and other opportunities to get involved throughout the year. Go to St. Paul’s Hub and click on the “Find a Group” link to view current offerings. New classes and group opportunities are also announced in the The Messenger monthly newsletter.
Cards for Christ
Cards for Christ’s mission is to provide handmade cards for all occasions for those within our church community that need them. Giving this personal touch allows our large church to then feel more like a small family by letting people know that they are thought of and cared about. All cards are designed and pre-kitted by the leaders, and meetings basically consist of assembling them. If you can glue, cut, and/or color, you can be a part of our group! No experience necessary! There are two Cards for Christ groups that meet monthly, one during the day time and the other in the evening.
Divine Inspirations (Worship and Art Team)
Divine Inspirations is St. Paul’s altar-decorating committee, responsible for decorating the Sanctuary and other areas of the church for liturgical seasons and special occasions. The purpose of our ministry is to glorify God by providing a visual avenue to evoke a response so that worship can take place. If you like to decorate, look at aesthetically pleasing things, or just simply help by being a worker bee, Divine Inspirations may be for you!
Knit and Crochet Together
St. Paul’s knitting and crocheting ministry began in 2005. Members devote their time to provide a “hug” to the forgotten, alone, and people in need. During our monthly meetings, we share projects and patterns, enjoy fellowship, and try to get a little knitting and crocheting done! While this ministry is a great avenue for fellowship, it also supports many great missions. We have donated knitted and crocheted items to Mt. Nittany Medical Center, Rosebud Indian Reservation, Epworth Manor, Neighborhood Center, the UMW Auction, the United Methodist Children’s Home, the Park Forest Day Nursery, St. Paul’s Nicaragua Mission, and other ministries of Mission Central. Meeting dates, times, and locations are announced in the What’s Happening weekly email.
Music Ministry
St. Paul’s Music Ministry seeks to provide music in worship that glorifies God and ministers to God’s people through a wide variety of styles and ensembles while nurturing spiritual growth and fellowship for all participants. There are no auditions and no previous experience is necessary. New members are always welcome! For complete information, go to the Music Ministry page.
