Wee Church
Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Psalms 100:2
St. Paul's recognizes that worshipping together is an important element
of Christian life for everyone, including our youngest members. Children
are warmly welcomed at all worship services, however, the 10:45am service
is particularly geared to families and children. A special children's
message is presented during this worship service, following which, children
ages 3 years-Kindergarten may exit to Wesley Chapel for a separate worship
service for very young children. (Parents pick up children at Wesley Chapel
at the conclusion of the 10:45 worship service.)
Wee Church is not another Sunday School class. It is a special opportunity
for children to experience the presence of God in a worshipful setting.
Wee Church is currently undergoing a transformation to follow a very successful
program known as Godly Play.
In this program, the children learn to enter God's presence in a way
that is warm, reverent, and fun. Scripture stories are told carefully
with engaging story figures and a variety of creative activities. During
the story telling and response time, children are invited to wonder about
themselves, God, and the world in ways that are playful and meaningful
them.
Volunteer Opportunities in Wee Church:
Wee Church Leader-
Lead storyteller for Wee Church (use scripted curriculum and prepared
materials.)
Wee Church Helper-
Assist storyteller.
Wee Church Worship Material Crafter-
Create story figures and background materials from felt and wood.
Wee Church Setup Person-
Set up Wesley Chapel for Wee Church between 9:15 and 10:45 services.
